Epoch-Based Vote Rebalancing

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about whether Unit Zero governance could benefit from some form of epoch-based vote rebalancing. In this model, voting power would reset or partially decay at the start of each set period, like a week or a month. Token holders would still have full ownership of their assets, but their influence in governance would depend on showing up and participating regularly rather than holding tokens indefinitely without engaging.

The idea is to address a common challenge in DAO governance: inactive large holders who maintain influence simply by keeping their tokens staked or delegated. By introducing regular rebalancing, voting weight could shift toward those who consistently take part in proposals, helping ensure decisions reflect the views of active members.

There are open questions, of course. How often should rebalancing happen so it encourages participation without overloading voters? Should there be a mechanism to preserve some baseline influence for long-term holders? How might this affect delegation systems or voter turnout overall?

I think it’s worth exploring whether an epoch-based model could make our governance more responsive and representative. It might be an experiment that gives us valuable data on how to balance fairness, engagement, and decision-making efficiency.
