Hey everyone,
Low voter participation remains one of the biggest challenges in decentralized governance. While token-based systems give members the right to vote, many do not exercise it, leading to decisions made by a small fraction of holders. This discussion focuses on how DAOs can encourage consistent and informed participation without undermining fairness or creating new risks such as vote trading or apathy-driven voting.
One approach is to reward active engagement through tokens, reputation points, or governance privileges. However, designing these incentives requires caution. Rewards that are purely financial may lead to low-quality participation, where members vote only to claim benefits. On the other hand, non-monetary rewards such as reputation or tiered governance access might better align with the DAO’s long-term mission.
Participants are invited to share models for incentivising meaningful involvement. How can DAOs measure the quality of participation rather than quantity? Should long-term contributors or proposal authors receive additional recognition? What safeguards can prevent abuse, such as multiple wallet voting or collusion?
