Integrating Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) into the Units.Network Ecosystem

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking a lot about how Units.Network could play a role in the growing space of decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN). There’s been a lot of energy recently around projects that connect blockchain to real-world infrastructure—things like decentralized wireless networks, shared sensor networks, or distributed energy systems. These aren’t just cool use cases; they represent a shift in how communities build and maintain critical services.

What I’d love to see is more discussion around how something like Units.Network could support or even incubate DePIN projects. For example, could Units be used to coordinate contributions to a community-run mesh network or to govern a shared fleet of solar-powered devices? What tools would need to be built into the ecosystem to support this kind of work? Are there any projects already doing this that we could learn from?

It feels like there’s a natural alignment between the ethos of Units and the goals of DePIN—both focus on decentralization, community ownership, and creating value that’s tied to real-world outcomes. I’m curious if others here have thought about this or know of examples where these ideas are already starting to connect. Would be great to hear thoughts or even early-stage ideas.
