Hey everyone,
What do you think about the prospects of decentralized identity (DID) in Units.Network? Right now, most online identity systems rely on centralized databases, which are easy targets for hacks and data leaks. With DID, users can control their own identity without depending on third parties, reducing risks and making authentication more secure.
One of the biggest advantages is that users don’t have to share more data than necessary. Instead of handing over full IDs or other personal details, they can verify just the specific information needed for a transaction. This could be useful for DeFi apps, DAOs, and any service that needs some level of identity verification without compromising privacy.
There’s also potential for improving compliance without forcing users into traditional KYC processes. With verifiable credentials, Units.Network could meet regulatory requirements while keeping everything decentralized. Plus, authentication without passwords makes phishing and identity theft much harder.
The challenge is choosing the right DID framework and making sure it integrates smoothly with the ecosystem. Are there any existing projects that could be a good fit? Would love to hear thoughts from others on how this could work in practice.
